Rainy day...

Yup-it's raining in Concord, NC! I arrived at work at 7:00 am and it was still dark. It is 9:54 am and it is very gloomy and still dark. I guess I will have to rely on the flourescent lights to keep me awake today. Like many parts of the country, we need this rain. So, don't take my comments as complaints - I am thankful for this steady, drizzly rain.

Not sure if it is the gloomy atmosphere outside that is worse, or the gloomy atmosphere on the inside that I cannot seem to shake today. Several emails in the last few days from friends in our church who have lost jobs; I got fussed at for letting go of a volunteer responsibility I had been neglecting; I have heard more negative talk among my Christian friends than I care to recount; money is tight; my clothing is tighter; my kids aren't perfect; I am not perfect; my husband is not perfect; and our roof is leaking......as we say at our house,

"DO YOU WANT A LITTLE CHEESE WITH THAT WHINE!"

So I am throwing myself into the many tasks I have at work, praying for my friend who begins her journey home from Massachusetts today, praying for Dwight & Bard, Dave & Mel, SueAnn & Joe, Mac & Elaine and Phylis' sister (all involved in difficult job situations), thanking God for the rain, for our jobs, our health and our home (even with a leaky roof).

As the mayor of Matthews, NC used to tell us, "Make it a GREAT day!" Today that will be work!
