Purity???

As most of you know we had a wonderful time attending Matt's graduation from basic training at Fort Leonardwood Missouri. While we were there I met a woman who has a career I didn't know existed. In this day of reality shows it was a complete surpise to me that I had never even thought of this one. She was a grandmother and the wife of a retired Air Force officer. She is a cook on a crew of a river barge. She her route is up and down the Mississippi River. She is gone two weeks at a time. She loves her work, and feels the crew is her extended family. I had no idea that barges went on such long journeys.

OK....is your curiousity up? What could this story possibly have to do with purity? As we were talking she mentioned that they look for cooks who are older women. They tried to hire younger women, but had too much difficulty with the younger women being promiscuous with the crew during their journeys. My heart sank....I hope that young women of today will take this as a challenge to strive for purity. (I know that there is another side to this coin, the men among the crew....perhaps another post). Having worked with young people at my church for so many years, I especially want to appeal to Christian young women. Raise the bar....remain pure and faithful to the standards God has set out for us in Scripture. The rewards are huge....the consequences of straying from those standards can be painful and permanent.
