Don't you love it when God speaks and puts an "exclamation point" at the end of the message He has given you? It hasn't happened to me much in the last few years, but it did the other day!
I was on my knees (emotionally and spiritually), crying out to God for understanding and wisdom. At church our pastor had touched on 2 Corinthians, and since my bulletin was resting there, I began to read. What I read in chapter 4:7-9, became the word's to my heart's cry, "We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpasing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed but not in despair;...struck down, but not destroyed." I was grateful to God for these words of promise and comfort!
Now here comes the exclamation point! I was reading in the Advent Christian Witness - THAT SAME DAY - and came across an article written by Caroline. I worked with Caroline at the Advent Christian Headquarters from 1984-1988. For me (an upstart fresh from college) she was a wonderful example of a Godly woman, a master conversationalist, and how to carry yourself with grace and dignity. Her article was entitled, "With a Heart of Thanksgiving." The article chronicled her journey through the death of her husband, a serious car accident which led to the diagnosis of lung cancer, and her ongoing battle with that disease. As the threat of cancer loomed, she took comfort in a verse. You guessed it, 2 Corinthians 4:7-9. GOD'S EXCLAMATION POINT!
God showed His active participation in comforting me through His exclamation point! I know, that I know, that I know, that God is at work in my life and all around me. I need only to join Him in that work! May your day be blessed with God's presence, and I pray you will receive an exclamation point from God, just when you need it the most!
Serving Him with you!
