My friend....

I wish you could meet one of my friends. She is a precious sister in the Lord.

Surgery years ago, left her with very little voice. Her dear husband died at Christmas time, and I have watched her recently as we sing hymns at our church. She cannot join in the singing, but you can tell she is worshipping. She is involved with each song, some bringing tears to her eyes. Sitting beside her last night, singing loudly (probably a bit too loudly, as I sometimes do)...I began to envy her a little.

She was not distracted by trying to follow the words in the hymnal, not by trying to follow the music to get just the right melody or harmony, not by an unfamiliar tune - she was simply present with the Lord. How I long to worship like that, without distraction, in complete union with my heavenly father. Too often, I simply add "worship better" to my list of things to do, or my list of things I do not do well.

Here is where God chose to speak to me....II Corinthians 3:5-6 - Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.I wish you could hear my sigh of relief! Our adequacy come only from Christ. As our pastor shared with us last night - it is like our physical arm is not long enough to reach our goal, but through Christ our arms are long enough! WOW!

Thank you God for new beginnings and for AHA moments!
