I'm tired of thinking!

Thinking, thinking, thinking....sometimes I want to stop thinking. I want to slow things down and just relax. Some might say I have the habit of thinking things to death. Could be true...and it's probably not healthy. The latest book I picked up to read is, Letters to a Young Evangelical by Tony Campolo. Unfortunately, it is a book that causes you to really think. So much for reading being relaxing.....

Now seriously folks - well that brought to mind a quirky memory (growing up I referred to my parents as "the folks"). I had to explain, I didnt' want you to think I was crazy! Here is my memory: When my older brothers planned my parent's 25th wedding anniversary celebration, they purchased a silver platter. Only after the event do I remember people commenting about the way the inscription was worded, "From: Dwight, David, Paul, Nathan and Bethany." Why didn't you put LOVE instead of FROM. Who knows! It was a happy yet busy time, I am sure it just was lost in all there was to accomplish. We knew our parents were aware of how much we loved them, and such an error in no way diminished the fact of our love for them.

Isn't that just like it is with God? What we view as mistakes (things we don't think should have happened in our lives) we jump to the conclusion that God doesn't love us, or he is picking on us, we tend to ask why. But faith (the voice of truth) does tell us a different story. It testifies to our hearts that God does love us, we become aware of His love, and realize that such events in our lives in no way diminish the fact of his love for us.

I tend to say "I'm always worried and frustrated." God says "Cast all your cares on ME." I Peter 5:7. So for now I will try to rest in his promise, and not think quite so hard! - Serving Him with you, Bethany
