Prayer for my children today!
"Father, I pray that my children would be kind to each other and to everyone else." - I Thessalonians 5:15
Matt's dentist appt. yesterday gave me an opportunity to begin a new book, "Prayer Changes Teens: How to parent from your knees" by Janet Holm McHenry. A very practical book for tips on praying for your teens. I read nearly 1/2 the book in one sitting! I found it intriguing and helpful! The format is simple and not to wordy. She touches on 20 topics from clothing to driving, from eating to money, and smoking to faith. With each topic she includes a sample prayer, quotes from teens, scripture for the parents, suggestings from the "experts", and questions to spark discussion between your and your teens on each topic. This format is extremely appealing to me. Prayer was so difficult for so long in my life, I cling to all the help I can find. I am connecting to God on a different level now. I am not nearly so cocky about my relationship with Him. I long to be at His beck and call, not to treat him as if I want Him to be at my beck and call.
This is only the second book I have read cover to cover since my hospitalization in 2006. I am encouraged by this. God bless you all! - Bethany
