I haven't been feeling 100% for about a month. Thought I might have had a kidney stone, had a few stomach upsets, lots of headaches etc. I woke up on Wednesday and came to work with a nagging pain in my side. Caught myself stretching and holding my side throughout the day. Professor Wilma and I struggled through Bible School, wondering why it was so difficult to do the motions to the songs and jump up and down. The nagging pain kept me up ALL night - a call to the doctor at 3:00 am resulted in scheduling an appt. with the doctor at 10:30 am. David had a dentist appt. at 7:30 am, I went to the doctor at 10:30 am. At 2:00 pm I had a CT scan, and from there I saw a surgeon! My appendix had to be removed. I was in surgery at 5:00 pm and home by 9:30 pm. A whirlwind journey! My little detour. Professor Wilma and I did not get to participate in Bible School on Thursday and Friday, but God was still at work! We are both amazed at the outpouring of God's power as 31 children committed their lives to Christ! Some were from our church, but several are from our community and celebrated with us on Sunday! It was a joy to hug the children and hear them talk about how they prayed for me. One night the theme was, Jesus gives us the power to be brave! Little Chase Styres asked me if I was afraid, and I was able to tell him that even though I was afraid, the once the nurses prayed for me, I remembered that Jesus could give me the power to be brave, and I was!
I am at work today (Monday) for a few hours, and hope to work another 1/2 day tomorrow. After that, I hope to be back at it!
Matthew left for a week of camp today with his friend Chad! Chad is the son of our former pastor, so two ladies from our church drove me to Charlotte to drop him off, and we had a lovely breakfast with Chad's mom, Jean, whom we miss dearly! We hope to get together more often!
Off to finish my 1/2 day work! I pray your day will be full of thanksgiving - even if a detour comes your way!
